Social Media Breaks – To be or not be that is the question?

We all are well aware of Cigarette breaks, lunch breaks, tea breaks while in office but what emerges now as a trend is the Social Media breaks. As we are getting more and more addicted to sites like Facebook and Twitter, people are more intended to spend their spare time updating their status and communicating online with their friends on Facebook rather than taking a tea and chatting with them.
Now the question is whether Social Media breaks should given a green pass in the office or should this fall under the personal time category of the individuals. I personally feel that there should a time slot allocated to such breaks but of course that should comply with the Social Media Policy of the firm. Such breaks would add to productivity of the employees as well. Your comments are welcome.
